Where is everybody?

Just one day before the (every 4 - 6 weeks) Tokyo trip, and as usual, I woke up at 4 AM for the weekly global concall.

You see it is between Lund, London, Seattle, San Francisco, and Tokyo. I do this at 4 AM to allow the global team to have the better hours (for now).

However, this week NO one is dialing in?

Is it the 3 month holiday in the Nordic realm? Are there holidays in Japan I am unaware of (apparently)? Did someone have bad fish 'n chips with mushy peas? Is Starbucks not open at 4am?

I'd like to know as I sit here alone, on this call, with nothing to keep me comfy but the static hiss of the empty phone line, the glow of my X1 screen and back-lit keyboard, and the sound of Potrero Hill at (what is now) almost 5:xx AM.

(dot)WTF people?!

We will discuss this face to face in Tokyo next week...

TSA in your FACE

Haha - made it through TSA on my way back up from San Diego to SFO this afternoon and didn't even need to take my Vaio out of the bag!<

Microsoft - Our Passion. Your Life.

Too funny - so I arrived at the Windows Mobile 7 Jump Start event yesterday morning JUST in time for the big earthquake.

Right when the quake hit, and during the rolling and shaking, the Microsoft presenter didn't miss a beat. He kept on talking, even asking for a microphone to put closer to the device for louder audio; all the while people in the audience talking aloud, jumping out of the ballroom while the chandeliers above shook violently, glass clinking and clanking.

When he called for the mic, I thought he/they were going to tell everyone to be calm, but NO, he puts it to the device and says "now can you hear that better!!!"

So with that noted, the Best Presenter Under Pressure Award goes to Microsoft - Our Passion. Your Life.

Dropped my TZ series Vaio laptop at San Diego International this afternoon. Fun, not! Pretty much DOA, and so is my presentaion to Microsoft tomorrow morning.

Mama and Emi (Indiana) Jones'n on Nintendo DS. Corrine is SUCH a closeted SciFi nerd - I love it! Even she is excited to do up ComicCon next year with Tr2n and Watchmen debuting next summer. Sweet...

Maui kitch'n cooked

Mr. Kevin Milden extraordinaire turned me onto  Maui kitch'n cooked potato chips. Amazingly light, made with just potatoes, oil, and sea salt. Cooked fresh daily.

Streaking sunset

Farewell Maui, farewell Kaanapali. We're off to San Francisco tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight's sunset was gorgeous and filled with cloud streaks.

We'll miss evenings like this back home in NorCal.

What do Maui kids do?

So, what do Maui kids do on hot Maui nights?

Hang out on the front yard, and play Mario Cart on Nintendo DS, networked with other local kids in the neighborhood. Wicked ;-)

I don't think little Emi wants to go back home to the main'land.
